Hi everyone! I’m Lauren Wilmet.

I’m an undergraduate at the University of Wisconsin-Madison studying Life Sciences Communication and Gerontology. I’m an aspiring pIMG_0079hysician assistant and plan on applying to graduate school once I graduate!

Healthcare has always been a huge part of my life. My parents are both in the medical field, so I guess I was “doomed” to be a part of it as well! I’ve happily been working in a hospital for five years exploring different departments and working as a nursing assistant.

Some fun facts about me: I am a music fanatic, foodie, world traveler (in progress) and an oober Star Trek nerd. If I could have any other job in the world, I’d die to be a movie critic!

Most importantly, I love helping others. In 2014, I was diagnosed with a rare kidney disease. This led me to help start Bella Soul, a newly formed nonprofit organization that provides financial aid to college students with physical diseases or disabilities.

This blog is dedicated to helping college students battling disease or disability feel in control of their bodies. I also hope it helps families and friends better understand what their loved ones go through on a daily basis.
